These pictures were taken during our concert in June 2008, the second consecutive year we have taken part in the Matlock Live! music festival. We put on a lunchtime 'Picnic in the Park' concert in a marquee in Hall Leys Park, Matlock, playing a selection of light classics with a family theme. The centrepiece of the performance was Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf (narrated by Liz Rowbottom).
We also played two Marches by Handel, the theme from Thunderbirds, the overture from Rienzi by Wagner, Try to Remember by Tom Jones, the theme from the PInk Panther by Mancini, the Adagio from Spartacus by Khachaturian, and Shepherd's Hey by Percy Grainger.
It was a great day out - the weather was kind, the orchestra had a ball, and the audience enjoyed the performance.

Almost the whole orchestra. We had a much bigger performance area this year than last, so we all had a bit more elbow-room! |
